Our philosophy at Rushmore is to select materials that inspire students to think critically and become more independent literacy learners. We focus on providing student readers with a balanced diet of fiction and nonfiction texts that are thought-provoking and complex in nature. Reading complex texts that students are interested in encourages their active participation. They get excited about sharing their thoughts and ideas. This creates an environment that supports literacy growth at all levels.
